Long Island Shop Cup Count: Trump, Clinton In Dead Heat

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are not only neck-and-neck for the race to the White House, they're also ridiculously close in the tally of monogrammed campaign cups sold by one Long Island shop.

The Monogram Shop in East Hampton has been tracking the sale of cups and closed their final count Thursday evening. The official count came to 1,278 for Clinton and 1,233 for Trump, 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reported.

Owner Valerie Smith told Newsday that her store's cup count has never been wrong.

"We started counting in April when it was finally clear Trump had prevailed and I ordered the Trump cups," Smith said. "He had consistently been ahead since then until the 17th of July, when they were even, and since then Hillary has pulled ahead by maybe 30 cups."

The shop has sold cups with logos for major candidates for every presidential election since 2004, according to Newsday.

Not a fan of either? No problem. The Monogram Shop also sells napkins conveying lack of support for both candidates.
