Man Who Held Clinton Campaign Office Hostage Arrested In Bank Robbery
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man convicted years ago of taking hostages at a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign office in 2007 has been arrested in a New Hampshire bank robbery.
Police say Leeland Eisenberg, 55, of Concord, New Hampshire, was arrested Tuesday in Manchester. He was charged with robbery and being in possession of a controlled drug, believed to be around 6.5 grams of crack cocaine.
It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer. He was arraigned Wednesday.
Eisenberg spent at least two years behind bars for the November 2007 siege at Clinton's Rochester, New Hampshire, campaign office in her first run for president while she served as a senator for New York State.
No one was hurt in the five-hour standoff. Eisenberg claimed to have a bomb, but it turned out to be road flares.
Eisenberg made headlines in 2013 after escaping from a halfway house in Manchester, CBS Boston reported. He was later caught about a mile away.
Police say video surveillance of the Manchester bank robbery helped lead them to Eisenberg.
