Police Release Video Of Suspect Who Allegedly Hurled Anti-Gay Slurs Before Subway Stabbing
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police released surveillance video Monday after a suspect stabbed a man in a possible hate crime on the No. 2 train in Harlem over the weekend.
Around 7:05 p.m. Saturday, the suspect yelled anti-gay slurs at the 28-year-old victim as the train pulled into the 110th Street station, police said.
At the station, the train doors opened and the suspect briefly got off before getting back on the train and punching the victim in the face, police said.
The victim followed the suspect off the train and the pair fought on the platform, police said. The suspect stabbed the victim during the fight and ran up onto the street, police said.
The victim chased the suspect, but the suspect stabbed the victim again on the street, police said.
The suspect then ran east on 109th Street.
Earlier reports had indicated that the attack happened on a No. 1 Train, but police said Monday it was a No. 2 Train.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and he had on a dark green backpack, police said.
