3 Hurt, 1 Seriously, In Lower Manhattan High Rise Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The FDNY said three people have been injured, one seriously, in a smoky fire at a high rise in Lower Manhattan.

The fire broke out around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in a 12th floor machinery room in a skyscraper at 30 Broad Street near Exchange Place. The Fire Department said it had knocked down a lot of the fire by 11 a.m. It had 26 units and 84 firefighters at the scene.

Officials are warning people in the area to expect smoke and traffic delays, avoid smoke exposure and close windows.

The patient who was seriously injured suffered burns.
