Mets Acquire Fernando Salas From Angels For Erik Manoah

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Mets acquired right-hander Fernando Salas from the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night in a trade for minor league right-hander Erik Manoah.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets placed outfielder Justin Ruggiano on the 60-day disabled list. Earlier Wednesday, the Mets traded minor league catcher Nevin Ashley to Texas for cash considerations.

The 31-year-old Salas has four saves and a 2.93 ERA in 15 1/3 innings in 17 games since the All-Star Game. Overall, Salas was 3-6 with six saves and a 4.47 ERA in 56 1/3 innings in 58 games this season for the Angels.

The 20-year-old Manoah was 5-5 with a 5.37 ERA in 13 games for Brooklyn in the New York-Penn League.

The 32-year-old Ashley has spent the season with Triple-A Las Vegas, batting .240 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 63 games.
