“I have to see their defense, and all this money they spent on defense, I need to see it show up on Sunday. I’ve got to see it translate to playing good football defensively.”

The Giants, who had the NFL’s last-ranked defense in 2015, spent big in free agency, adding defensive end Olivier Vernon, defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Janoris Jenkins. The Giants open the season Sunday at Dallas.
