Worker Falls To Death From Building On Sixth Avenue In Midtown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A construction worker fell to his death from a Midtown building Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. at 1301 Sixth Ave. near 52nd Street, police said.

The 52-year-old man had been working on the roof of the building and fell 47 floors, police said.

He was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene with severe trauma to his body, police said. The FDNY EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The man's name was being withheld pending family notification late Thursday afternoon.

There was no word late Thursday on what caused the man to fall.
