Animal Care Centers of NYC Launches "Race to the Right House" Election Promotion

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) While the world may be transfixed on Monday night's Presidential debate, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) is gearing up for Tuesday.

That's when the adoption fee for pets six months and older will be reduced to $20.16. This includes dogs, cats and rabbits. ACC, which takes in more than 30,000 animals a year as the city's only open admissions shelter, is currently caring for over 300 pets looking for a home.

Whether you're on the left or the right, ACC spokeswoman Alexandra Silver told 1010 WINS, we can all agree that pets are great to have around, and ACC wants to highlight the importance of adoption. "It is a choice that people make", said Silver, "They could go to a pet store or to a breeder, but people choose to adopt, so it's a nice tie in to the election because you can really "elect" to adopt, and that's what we want people to do".
