NEW YORK (WFAN) — Don’t be so quick to assume Brian McCann’s days with the Yankees are numbered.

MLB Network’s Mark DeRosa, who describes McCann as his “best friend in the game,” told WFAN’s Mike Francesa on Wednesday that the catcher would “100 percent” be interested in remaining with the Bronx Bombers as a designated hitter and backup to phenom Gary Sanchez.

“I don’t think he wants to leave,” said DeRosa, a former utilityman with the Braves and several other teams. “He loves New York. He loves it here.”

McCann has three years and $49 million remaining on his contract and a full no-trade clause. There have been rumors he could return to the Atlanta Braves next season.

DeRosa said a situation “would have to be super, super interesting” for the seven-time All-Star to waive his no-trade clause.

McCann, 32, is batting .239 this season with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs.
