NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Sunday for a suspect who they say groped several women and girls on No. 1 trains on the West Side of Manhattan.

Around 5:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, the man sat down next to a 24-year-old woman on a moving No. 1 at the 66th Street-Lincoln Center station and rubbed the inside of her thigh, police said.

The same man also rubbed the inside of an 18-year-old woman's thigh on a No. 1 train at the Times Square-42nd Street station around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, police said.

Police also suspect the man in an incident that happened up to five years ago. Sometime between Sept. 29, 2011, and June 30, 2012, the man rubbed the inside of a 13-year-old girl's thigh on a No. 1 train at the 110th Street-Cathedral Parkway station, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 40s standing about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and carrying a black backpack.
