Planned Parenthood Celebrates 100th Anniversary At City Hall

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Planned Parenthood celebrated its 100th anniversary in the rotunda of City Hall on Sunday.

First lady Chirlane McCray presented a proclamation for Planned Parenthood's anniversary.

1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reports it sounded very much like a political rally with Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., promising the group won't be discriminated if Democrats win the majority of the Senate on Election Day.

"We will make it clear that on our watch Planned Parenthood will not be attacked, discriminated, or used as a political hostage and we will make it crystal clear that under no circumstance will it ever, ever be defunded," Schumer said.

New York City's Planned Parenthood says it serves 64,000 people every year.

Planned Parenthood's mission is to provide affordable and judgment-free health care for all.
