According to police, Eve Gentillon, 69, was walking by Sutphin King Deli on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica at around 8 a.m. on Saturday when a man punched her in the face, causing her to hit the ground.

The NYPD released video of the suspect, who has been identified as Richard Springer, also known as "Kwasi," 28, of Queens.

Witnesses say the suspect was fighting with a deli employee after he attempted to steal beer from the store.

Witnesses say Gentillon saw the incident and told the suspect to stop before she was attacked.

The woman was taken to the hospital.

Fareek Ali, the store's owner, said the attacker is always stealing things.

"We all the time have a problem with him, but it's not like this time," Ali said. "How are you gonna do this to an old lady? She's like a mother."

The NYPD describes the suspect as standing 5'11" tall, weighing around 175 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair in cornrows and a tattoo that says "Emily" on his right arm. Police say he was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and black boots.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 577-TIPS, or by logging on to their website at www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. Tips can remain anonymous.
