NYPD Rescues Pregnant Woman Off Charter Fishing Boat In Atlantic
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD rescued a pregnant woman off a charter fishing boat in the Atlantic Ocean after she was in the early stages of giving birth.
The NYPD Aviation Unit responded to the emergency call around 3 p.m. on Wednesday to the 65-foot charter fishing boat that was nearly two miles south of Riis Park in the Atlantic.
A medic was deployed from one of the helicopters and gave aid to the pregnant woman.
The NYPD then placed the woman and her family onboard a Harbor Unit vessel.
The woman was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and she is in stable condition.
