'The Best Subway In The Whole City,' Maloney Has High Praise For MTA, Second Ave. Subway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- With the Second Ave subway set to open and begin operating within months, Rep Carolyn Maloney has given the MTA an A+ report card for their handling of the project.
As 1010 WINS Roger Stern reported, the subway is scheduled to open on time and on budget in December.
"It will be the best subway in the whole city and possibly the entire country," she said.
With parts of the street and sidewalk still torn up, many around Second Ave don't look kindly on the MTA.
Remy sells wine and liquor.
"It's been kind of a mess. It's been terrible for businesses around her. I service a lot of restaurants and bars, and they've been feeling it," he said.
One man who owns three restaurants along Second Ave said he applauds the MTA as long as they meet their December deadline.
