Police Release Photo Of Suspect In Robbery Of Woman, 55, On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday released surveillance images of one of two suspects in the robbery of a 55-year-old woman on Staten Island last month.

Around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, a dark-colored four-door sedan pulled up to the woman at Buel and Nugent avenues in the Midland Beach section of Staten Island, police said.

A female suspect got out of the vehicle on the passenger's side and demanded the woman's money, police said. The woman refused, and a man then got out of the vehicle from the driver's side and also demanded her money, police said.

The victim refused a second time, and the man put his hands under the woman's scarf near her waist and asked her if she wanted to get hurt, police said.

The woman then took the victim's purse, police said.

The suspects got back in the vehicle and fled east on Buel Avenue, police said.

The woman had a credit card and a cellphone in her purse, among other items, police said. Around 6:54 p.m., the suspects used the woman's credit card to buy gasoline at the Speedway station at 951 Bay St., police said.

One of the suspects was described as a white female between the ages of 20 and 25, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall with sunglasses. She was last seen wearing a light-colored scarf, a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt, black pants and flip flops.

Police released her surveillance photo.

The second suspect was described as a white male between 20 and 25, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a white sweater.

The vehicle was described as a dark gray four-door Chrysler 200. Police also released an image of the vehicle.
