'The Color Purple' To Close In January After One-Year Broadway Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Another curtain call for a popular Broadway show is coming this January.

"The Color Purple," will end a year-long run that began last December, CBS2 reported.

The show, based on a novel by Alice Walker, played 449 regular productions and received a Tony Award for "Best Musical Revival."

A North American tour will launch in Fall 2017.

The musical"Jersey Boys" also ends its run in January. The musical, which opened in 2005, tells the story of Bob Gaudio, Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi and features 20 Four Seasons songs or Valli, including "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "Oh, What a Night."
