Bryce Petty Enters Game For Jets After Fitzpatrick Leaves With Injury

Bryan Altman

Jets fans clamoring for a look at the Jets' fourth round draft pick out of Baylor in 2015, QB Bryce Petty, have finally gotten their wish.

Late in the third quarter Jets' quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was walloped by Dolphins defenders and stayed down on the ground hurt for a minute before getting back up and rejoining the huddle. However, after crouching down under center, Fitzpatrick began walking towards the sideline before taking a knee, apparently injured worse than originally thought from the prior play.

Fitzpatrick then left the game and had his knee examined by doctors, paving the way for Petty to make his regular season debut with the Jets.

Even though fans undoubtedly didn't want to see Fitzpatrick leave the game due to injury, fans had about had enough of Fitzpatrick's ineffective play of late. The Jets offense was sluggish most of the game and Fitzpatrick was 13/21 passing for 124 yards and an interception before he left the game.

Update: Fitzpatrick has since returned to the game for the Jets.
