Trump Spends Thanksgiving In Florida, Calls On Country To 'Move Forward As One'

PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBSNewYork) -- President-elect Donald Trump will spend Thanksgiving Day in Florida where he will hold meetings at his Mar-a-Lago estate, still working to staff his administration.

On Wednesday, Trump chose South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for United Nations Ambassador. He also selected charter school advocate Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education.

Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson hinted that he will be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Late Wednesday night, Trump released a video message calling for post-election unity.

"Emotions are raw and tension just don't heal overnight," he said. "It doesn't go quickly, unfortunately, but we have before us the chance to make history together."

While Trump is in Florida, Vice President-elect Mike Pence will spend the holiday in his home state of Indiana.

Meanwhile, Green Party candidate Jill Stein said she is trying to organize recounts in several swing states where Trump was declared the winner. She thinks Clinton may have actually carried them.
