NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Jets center Nick Mangold is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
The four-time Pro Bowler has been sidelined the past three games with a sprained ankle. He had only missed four games in his previous 10 seasons in the NFL.
Mangold was limited in practice Friday.
On Thursday, coach Todd Bowles did not rule out the possibility that Mangold could be headed for the injured reserve.
“We’ll have to talk about it if he doesn’t get any better,” he said. “For me, if you’re not practicing, you’re not improving.”
“I don’t think I have any more clarity on it,” Bowles added. “They just said his ankle was real sore and he had trouble walking at first and they put him back in the boot and he came out of the boot now, so, we’re still taking it, honestly, day by day.”
Wesley Johnson has been starting in place of Mangold.
Nose tackle Steve McLendon is also questionable Sunday with a hamstring injury. McLendon has 27 tackles and 3½ sacks this season. If he is unable to play, he would likely be replaced by Deon Simon.
Cornerbacks Marcus Williams and Nick Marshall have been ruled out.
