Police: Off-Duty School Safety Agents Arrested Separately In NoMad Fight, Brooklyn DWI Incident

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two off-duty NYPD school safety agents were arrested and charged in separate incidents Sunday, police said.

One of the women was arrested in a fight in front of a NoMad hotel, while the other was accused of driving while intoxicated in Brooklyn.

Around 2:32 a.m., school safety agent Wendy Castillo, 37, was arrested and charged with assault after a fight in front of the Ganfort Hotel at 420 Park Ave. South, police told 1010 WINS.

Police alleged Castillo was punched in the face in a fight with another woman – identified as Rashima Silvia, 37 – and went on to bite Silvia in the thumb. Silvia was also arrested, police said.

Police said the two women knew each other.

In an unrelated incident in Prospect Park South, Brooklyn, school safety agent Quintina Escobar-Balmir, 26, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with ability impaired at Church and Coney Island avenues at 6:08 a.m., police said.

No further details were released on her arrest.
