New York Shoe Show Highlights Hottest Footwear Styles

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Footwear is a $77 billion a year business, and fashion styles for your soles are constantly changing.

CBS2's Vanessa Murdock visited the New York Shoe Show to view the hottest trends.

Shiny, soft, pumped and polished shoes from every price range and style were on display, she reported.

"Texture I think is going to be one of the key trends," said Jenn Rogien, the costume designer for "Girls" and "Orange Is The New Black."

Shoes that beg to be touched and worn.

Embellished shoes will be hot -- from the highest heels to the most soulful sandals.

Also be on the lookout for mixed media, or as industry insiders call them, "mashups," boasting color blocking, multiple materials or crossovers of athlesure and dressy.

"I think there's going to be a color story that's really hot for fall. I think there's going to be a lot of red shoes," Rogien said.

She expects blush pink tones to take center stage too.

If you're tech-savvy, there are some styles that include USB chargers or LED lights, plus a pair of Adidas sneakers with soles that were built using a 3D printer.

Her must-haves? A velvet booty and a shoe with a fur accent.

"Wear what you love," Rogien said.

The New York Shoe Show is an event for retailers only. The shoes on display should hit shelves by late summer 2017.
