Giants' Landon Collins Named NFC Defensive Player Of Month

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Giants safety Landon Collins added another accolade Thursday, being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November.

The honor comes after the second-year safety won NFC Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive games earlier this season.

Collins is the first Giant since Jason Pierre-Paul in December 2011 to win NFC Defensive Player of the Month. He is the first safety in team history to receive the honor.

Collins registered 30 tackles (23 solo) and three interceptions in four games in November, all Giants victories.

In a 28-23 win over the Eagles on Nov. 6, he had 12 tackles and an interception en route to winning NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Collins followed that performance with five tackles and another interception in a 21-20 victory against the Bengals.

On Nov. 20, he had six tackles and a pick in a 22-16 win over the Bears.

This past Sunday, Collins had seven tackles, as the Giants beat the Browns 27-13 to win their sixth straight game and improve to 8-3.

On Wednesday, Pierre-Paul was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
