Arrest Made In Shooting Of NY Corrections Officer, Wife

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have made an arrest in connection to the Nov. 27th Queens shooting of a New York State corrections officer and his wife.

WCBS 880's Myles Miller reports that Shea Roberts, 24, was arrested on Friday by the Queens Violent Felony Squad only a few doors down from where police say he and another man pushed their way into Henry Wright's Jamaica home in an apparent home invasion.

Around 6:55 p.m., the suspects entered the home on Mathias Avenue near 163rd Street and shot the victims, police said.

Wright, 58, was shot five times and his wife Shannon, 52, was shot once.

The man was shot numerous times in his torso, and when police arrived he was unconscious and unresponsive when police arrived, the NYPD said. Police said the woman was shot in the shoulder, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

A close family friend told CBS2 the couple people over to their home the night of the shooting. As they were saying goodbye outside, the neighbor said two men rolled up and opened fire, though it was not clear exactly why.

"A friend of hers had just left and the next thing you know, she said guns was out, and I guess from her, with the commotion in front of the house, the husband came to see what was going on and that's when he got shot," said a neighbor named Keenan.

Police said the men pushed their way into the house before opening fire.

Neighbors on the block tell WCBS 880's Myles Miller that they['re scared because the second suspect has not been caught.

Roberts is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
