5 Arrested After Teen Punched, Kicked In Brooklyn Subway Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Five people have been arrested in connection to a robbery and assault of a teenage boy at a train station in Brooklyn earlier this week.

According to police, 10 suspects -- nine men and one woman -- chased the 16-year-old boy along the northbound platform of the F train station at West 8th Street in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn shortly after 6 p.m. on Dec. 6. The suspects then kicked and punched the teen before trying to remove his headphones.

The boy managed to get away from the group, but was later assaulted again, police said. During the second assault, the group managed to take the teen's cell phone before fleeing the scene.

According to police, Deonandre Cort, 17, Raymond Pastrana, 17, Malik Simmons, 19, Quaneil Peterkin, 16, Witnell Julien, 17, all of Brooklyn, were arrested in connection to the incident. They are facing several charges, including robbery.

An investigation is ongoing.
