Hospitals In NYC, NJ Welcome First Babies Of The New Year

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Hospitals in New York City and northern New Jersey welcomed their first babies of the new year on Sunday.

Little Nathan Peralta was born to Carmen Peralta at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens just eight minutes after the ball dropped in Times Square.

Nathan weighed a healthy seven pounds and 11.5 ounces and is 19-and-a-half inches long.

Mom and baby are both doing well.

In the Bronx, baby Melanie Londono was born to mother Zuelen Londono and father Kristian Payares at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.

Melanie came into the world at 12:09 a.m. weighing six pounds, nine ounces. Mother and baby are doing well.

Another baby girl was born in Brooklyn. Little Alayna Baloch was born to Nasma Baloch at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island at 1:38 a.m., weighing seven pounds, four ounces.

And in New Jersey, baby Milan Evee Belle Swensen was born at 12:04 a.m. at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The baby girl was born to Dana and Kyle Swensen weighing 6 pounds , 0.7 ounces and is 19-and-a-half inches long.
