Hundreds Line Up Outside Apple Stores For Chance To Buy New iPhone X

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Hundreds of people lined up outside Apple stores Friday for a chance to get their hands on the new iPhone X.

More than 500 people were anxiously waiting outside the Apple store on Fifth Avenue, where many have been camped out since Thursday awaiting the release of the $1,000 phone.

Some also spent the night outside a store on West 14th Street.

"I've had an iPhone since the original and it's something I really love," one woman told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern. "I'm really excited for this one."

"It's the latest and greatest and I want to check it out," said another man.

One man named Roy said he is a professional line stander. A customer paid $45 for the two hours and $10 for every half-hour after that and Roy was standing in the line since Tuesday.

"They are going crazy for it," he said. "They wanted four phones."

The iPhone X promises to have higher definition screen capabilities and facial-recognition skills.
