NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A construction worker is recovering after falling through a school roof in Brooklyn.

Firefighters say the worker was resurfacing the roof at Junior High School 227 on 16th Avenue in Mapleton when it gave way causing him to fall through into a classroom.

The worker wasn’t seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. The Department of Buildings said they had staff on hand to shore up the roof.
