New Jersey Fire Captain Arrested For Embezzling From Department, Police Say
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – A New Jersey fire captain under arrest.
Robert Daubenberger has been accused of embezzling nearly $100,000 from two of the accounts of the Elmwood Park Fire Department.
Prosecutors say the volunteer captain used his position as treasurer to steal from the department and the fireman's relief association.
Authorities claim he burned through the money for personal expenses. Daubenberger is charged with several counts of theft.
