FDA Approves Cheaper, Generic Version Of Anxiety Drug For Dogs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – If you have an anxious dog, a generic and cheaper version of a brand-name anxiety drug will soon be on store shelves.

On Wednesday, the FDA approved clomipramine hydrochloride - which is a generic version of Clomi-calm.

It's used for dogs six months and older who feel anxiety when left alone or separated from their owners.

Experts say the less expensive drug is meant to be used along with behavioral training.
