5 Hospitalized, Building Evacuated After Carbon Monoxide Scare In Chinatown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A building in Chinatown had to be evacuated overnight after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on Mulberry Street near Canal Street.

Five people were taken to the hospital – one in critical condition, two in serious and two with minor injuries.

Fire officials said the scare was caused by a defective boiler.
