1 Dead In Police-Involved Shooting In New Rochelle
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A man has died in a police-involved shooting in New Rochelle.
New Rochelle police say two officers made a traffic stop near Potter Avenue and Pierce Street just before 11 p.m. Friday.
According to investigators, a passenger got out of the car and tried to run away.

After one of the officers fired their Taser, and a struggle ensued, according to police. The suspect then allegedly pulled out a handgun, and aimed for the officers. One of the officers fired back, hitting him, police said. Six shots were fired.
Officers attempted to render medical assistance, but he died on the way to the hospital.
New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson identified the man as Kamal Flowers, 24. Police released a photo of a pistol they say they found on him.
CBS2 has learned Flowers was on probation and there was a warrant for his arrest in upstate New York.
"Whatever the circumstances that led to this moment, it is an unspeakable tragedy," Bramson said. "However this came about, the fact that, at age 24, a young man had an appointment with a bullet that snuffed out his life is a profound tragedy. It represents a failure of our community and a failure of our country, because no such incident occurs in a vacuum."
The mayor also says evidence from the encounter will be released to the public.
"We have an audio tape that records the officers in the field and their communication with headquarters. That audio tape will be released," he said.
The vehicle that Flowers was in drove off. Police are still searching for it, and the driver. It's a 2019 Black Dodge sedan with Virginia registration UPF1991.
The offices of the Westchester County district attorney and the New York state attorney general are both investigating the incident.
