NYPD Officer Injured By Fallen Tree On Upper East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A fallen tree injured a police officer on the Upper East Side on Thursday.

The tree fell on a green cab stopped at a traffic light on 98th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Authorities say a female NYPD officer who responded to the scene was hit in the head by a branch as she tried to remove the tree from the car.

The officer briefly lost consciousness.

She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a head wound.

The cab driver was not hurt.
