NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Firefighters had to overcome thick smoke and cluttered conditions to rescue a person trapped on the second floor of a burning home in the Bronx on Friday.

She’s now hospitalized in serious condition.

The fire started just after 6 p.m. on Hunts Point Avenue.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries.

A dog was killed in the fire, but rescuers were able to save a cat.
