New York City Council Approves Measure To Expand Housing Voucher Program

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York City Council has approved a measure to expand the city's housing voucher program.

The legislation raises the vouchers to federal levels to align with Section 8, the country's most successful rental assistance voucher.

It will help move more New Yorkers out of shelters and into apartments.

It will also eliminate the five-year cap so that anyone who continues to qualify will not lose access to the voucher.
