New Jersey School Superintendent Suspended After Refusing To Lift Mask Mandates

MANALAPAN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey school superintendent has been suspended after refusing to lift mask mandates.

It happened Tuesday night during a Manalapan-Englishtown Board of Education meeting.

Superintendent John Marciante refused, saying it went against state guidance, so he offered to step aside.

The board then passed a motion making masks optional for all students at parents' discretion.
