10-Digit Dialing Goes Into Effect For Some New Jersey Residents Sunday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In New Jersey, customers in the 908 and 856 area codes will have to get used to 10-digit dialing.

Beginning Sunday, everyone with numbers in those area codes must dial 10 digits for their local calls.

This change only applies to homes and businesses using landlines since wireless customers already use 10-digit dialing in their area code.
