Con Edison Asks State Regulators For Utility Rate Hikes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Con Edison customers could soon be paying more.

The utility is asking state regulators to raise the price of electricity by 11.2%. It's also hoping to raise the price of gas by 18.2%.

This would start in 2023.

Con Ed says the price hikes are needed to fund infrastructure upgrades and investments in clean energy.
