It’s already been an award-winning year for Sam Smith. The British singer has collected hardware from the BRITs, the American Music Awards, the Q Awards and the MOBO Awards. This year his million-selling debut album, In the Lonely Hour, is nominated for Album of the Year at the GRAMMYs, and Smith himself is nominated for a total of six awards.

“I think he has an excellent chance of winning Album of the Year,” Nekesa Moody, AP’s global entertainment and lifestyle editor, says. “I think that people really appreciated his voice. Sam Smith is being celebrated for who he is and the music is amazing. It’s undeniably one of the best albums of the year. The GRAMMYs totally got it right on this one.”
