Like chocolate and peanut butter, or ham and cheese, lobster and steak are one of the world's most classic combinations. City Lobster & Steak, in Midtown, lets you gobble both. Not in the mood for a steamed 1-¼lb lobster accompanied by 6 ounces of barrel-cut filet mignon? Fair enough. Instead, try the lobster chowder, lobster bake (with sweet corn, mussels, littleneck clams, and new potatoes), or lobster salad, among other lobster-focused offerings.

Specializing in "New England comfort food," the Lobster Joint has two locations (one in Greenpoint, one in Rockaway Beach), plus a food truck. So you're never really all that far from a lobster roll, lobster shepherd's pie (with mashed potatoes, spinach, and mushrooms), lobster corn chowder, or lobster club roll (with avocado and bacon). On Saturdays and Sundays, the prix fixe brunch includes a lobster claw Bloody Mary as well as lobster rancheros or lobster Benedict.

A family-owned restaurant and supplier in Chelsea Market, the Lobster Place has been around since 1974. In addition to its busy wholesale business, supplying lobster and fish to some of the city's best restaurants, it has an equally happening counter in the back of its bustling fish market. Here's where to go to get your freshly steamed lobster, along with just-cut sushi, smoked fish, and prepared dishes. Grab some butter, for dipping, and get crackin'.

Listen to this: Luke Holden started a lobster company while still in high school in Maine. So you know he knows his way around lobster. Today, he imports seafood fresh every day from his childhood haunts to his various eponymous restaurants along the eastern seaboard, including several in Manhattan. We prefer the one in the East Village, given its proximity to Tompkins Square Park. But the lobster rolls at any and all are the city's best, easy.

NYC Food Truck Lunch: Lobster Mac & Cheese From Red Hook Lobster Truck

Sourced straight from Maine, the lobster at the Red Hook Lobster Pound is top-notch, super fresh, yum-yum yummy, and available in Manhattan, Montauk, and even Washington, D.C. You can get three varieties of lobster rolls, all made with knuckle and clam meat: Maine (with homemade mayo), Connecticut (with butter), or Tuscan (with a basil vinaigrette). Other lobster- dishes, including lobster cheese fries, lobster BLT, and lobster mac-n-cheese, are equally destination-worthy.
