Best Events Happening At Tribeca Film Festival This Week

The 14th Annual Tribeca Film Festival is now in full swing here in New York City and there are still plenty of amazing talks and screenings that you can attend. Here are five of our favorite events happening throughout the city this week. By Carly Petrone.

There are plenty of ways to get your own original content out to the masses these days. Meet the men and women who are not only paving the way for future storytellers but they're breaking the mold as they do it. Listen to a panel discussion between Youtube sensation Alphacat, internet filmmaker Casey Nestat, and Michael & Even Gregory of The Gregory Brothers. Maker Studios founder Lisa Donovan will moderate the afternoon's discussion at the SVA Theater in Chelsea. Turn your idea into a personal brand with the help of these social media content creators. Meet the hilarious Janeane Garofalo during Friday's Tribeca Talks Directors Series at the SVA Theater in Chelsea. With a background in both animation and live action filmmaking, Brad Bird will sit down with the comedian/actress to talk about what it's like to transition between two forms of storytelling. Garofalo has been in everything from The Incredibles and Ratatouille to Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol and the upcoming Tomorrowland. Learn more starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24. Grab the whole family and head down to the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day happening on N. Moore Street between Greenwich Street and West Street on Saturday. Kids can try their hand at a vast array of sports activities, games, and contests. There will be local athletes, mascots, and sports personalities to keep both children and parents entertained. If your kids seem to have an interest in filmmaking, make sure to stop by the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair nearby on Greenwich Street between Hubert and Chambers Streets. There will be live Broadway performances, arts and crafts, chef demos and tasting, storytelling, video games, and free screenings. Both events are free and begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25.

If you're a fan of David Gelb's Jiro Dreams of Sushi then you should definitely check out his latest project called Chef's Table. Watch a screening of this new documentary series, which profiles chefs from around the world. You'll get a glimpse into the world of Dan Barber, chef and co-owner of New York's Blue Hill restaurant. Stick around for a Q&A with executive producer David Gelb, chef Dan Barber, and director Clay Jeter. Ruth Reichl moderates. Tickets are $38.50 and screening starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25
