I've had the pleasure of living most of my life in the Hudson Valley—a beautiful region about an hour from Manhattan, squeezed within the gorgeous mountain ranges while the Hudson River snakes it way through and reigns Queen.

With summer finally upon us, love is in the air. And that means one thing in the Hudson River Valley: weddings. This area is prime space to hold some of the most gorgeous, unique weddings. The list is lengthy with possibilities, but I thought I'd highlight the top three that stand out and tempt both residents and tourists alike.

Bear Mountain Inn
3020 Seven Lakes Drive
Bear Mountain, New York 10911

This is where I held my own wedding! Nestled at the top of the mountain, Bear Mountain Inn boasts a rustic flavor and old world charm that offers a unique touch to a wedding. There's a small chapel with gorgeous large paned windows that overlook the woods called Overlook Lodge, and it's a short limo ride straight to the Inn where you can hold your reception.

The Inn is a sprawling, stone building with that cabin in the woods type flavor. Surrounded by acres of trees, a shimmering lake casts its eye on guests as they make their way to the second floor of the lodge to gaze out at the peaceful surroundings. A whimsical carousel is an opportunity for a theatrical photo shot. There is a cozy, intimate feel as guests stroll through the various rooms. Photos can be taken on the grounds and give the wedding couple an extraordinary background at a much lower price than you'd expect. Definitely put this one on your list of sites to check out!

Boscobel
1601 NY-9D
Garrison, New York 10524

Love history? Plan your wedding at the historic Boscobel house in Garrison, NY. Restored and situated on a 250-acre river front site, Boscobel is considered to be one of the finest examples of Federal-style architecture. Tourists flock to this popular site to take in breathtaking view of the Hudson River, the Hudson Highlands, Constitution Marsh, and the West Point Military Academy from the sprawling front lawn.

Weddings take on a special memory by combining the gorgeous architecture with the natural landscape in a stunning combination. Stroll the brick paths that lead to the Rose Garden – based on a classical inspired English garden with a fountain in the center, and breathe in the scents of cherry, apple, and dogwood trees.
Truly a magical spot for a wedding.

Mohonk Mountain House
1000 Mountain Rest Road
New Paltz, New York 12561
(845) 765-3286
www.mohonk.com

Well known in the area as the go-to spot for hiking, Mohonk opens its grounds to a huge crowd looking to walk the many spectacular trails, do some boating on the lake, ride horses, and sip tea in one of the many rocking chairs scattered around a multi level deck. The restaurant is top class, offering one of the best brunches in the area.

But a wedding at Mohonk is beyond description. Imagine being photographed around majestic pines, holding cocktail hour on a balcony of a Victorian mansion while your guests overlook the lake. Sip champagne and stroll through the elaborate flower gardens, and feast on customized meals by amazing chefs. Relax and stay overnight to enjoy a horse and carriage ride, golf, hiking, or pamper yourself at the award-winning spa.

Ceremonies can take place inside at the Victorian parlour, or outside overlooking the mountains or in the gardens. It is an amazing experience for both the bride and her guests.
