NEW YORK (AP) – The family of a 14-year-old boy has sued a former New York City teacher for having sex with their son.
The suit was filed against 28-year-old Melissa Weber and the Department of Education in Queens Supreme Court on Tuesday. It seeks unspecified damages.
Weber received 10 years probation after admitting she had sex with the middle school student last year.
A cousin, Shunte Weber, told the Daily News that Weber has joined the Air Force where she was training to become a nurse.
The family’s lawyer, Adam Orlow, said the boy is being treated for psychological wounds.
