NEW YORK (AP/WFAN) - The New York Jets are not only in danger of losing holdout Darrelle Revis for the 2010 season – They could lose Revis for good, reports Yahoo! Sports’ Jason Cole.
From Yahoo! Sports:
“His agents are suggesting that Revis is ready to never play for the team again if the Jets don’t come up with the kind of cash soon that he wants.
Cole notes that Revis is saying that he’s ready to never play for the Jets “ever again” and he may just sit out the season like his uncle Sean Gilbert once did with the Washington Redskins when he wanted between $4 million and $5 million and the team was “only” offering $3.2 million. Gilbert moved on to the Carolina Panthers the following season for $7 million.”
Antonio Cromartie and rookie Kyle Wilson could be the Week 1 starting cornerbacks against the Ravens if Revis’ holdout continues. Unless, of course, the sides reach an agreement soon.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Revis is a punk.

I have a question. If Revis holds out this year, is his contract void by year end? He has 2 or 3 years left on his original contract, can the Jets hold him to that and never trade him or release him?
September 3, 2010 at 10:20 pm
PAY UP! What are we paying ticket prices for???? Like cutting Laverneaus Coles….I mean, this is an uncapped year! The only reason to cut him is to save OUR OWNER (the billionaire) some money…there is no cap hit to keep him…what a joke

Go Revis Go…your not necessary, the Jets will rule without you, according to REX.
September 3, 2010 at 2:56 pm
At this point i’d rather see the Jets trade him to a team who is willing to pay 16 mil a year for someone who doesnt handle the football/score points. He’ll learn real fast why a cornerback isnt worth 16 mil to a team in super bowl contention.

i hope revis breaks his leg getting out of bed !!! this guys is a diva and i hope the jets go 3 and 0 and revis is forgotten !!!!!!!!!!!!! BUHBYE REVIS YOU MONEY HUNGRY LOSER
September 3, 2010 at 1:42 pm
revis should go to the vikings
September 3, 2010 at 1:42 pm
He has contract is not guaranteed…he gets hurt Jets let him go…he gets no more money….See Leon Washington…..also Jets went to revis about a contarct….but they didn’t step up….woody is crying about money, but he made us pay PSLS…step up and gibe the kid what he deserves…..what do we care how much money he makes….tell you what…we can’t and won’t beat the elite teams in NFL with out Revis….NO CAN DO….stop crying on Hard Knocks…TIRED OF WOODY, PAY UP…..
September 3, 2010 at 1:22 pm
If Revis wanted a 1 year band-aid deal than this would be ok…woody has to think beyond this year when there is a salary cap again. Of course he can pay him this year but hes also trying to keep as many key players on his team as he can. You cant just make a huge purchase and then sort out everything else later. That’s something the Raiders would do
September 3, 2010 at 1:52 pm
If anyone saw this weeks hardknocks then you have seen how much an NFL contract is worth, ask Kellen Clemons what he thinks….take a 50% pay cut or be cut!
September 3, 2010 at 12:46 pm
Yeah, and he was also given a 2 week window to land a better position for himself. Guess what? No takers. He didn’t take the pay cut because he’s being held against his will, he took it because unemployment pays significantly less.
He’s a second round bust and is paid his worth. He’s been here for what, 4 years now, and he hasn’t done a thing to warrant himself getting paid more. He’s 3rd string quarterback and is now paid like one.

Read this. Might change your mind on looking at Revis in a negative light. What Revis is doing is smart.
September 3, 2010 at 12:33 pm
To jump from $1M to $12M and still not want to play is ridiculous. He should take the $12M and push for more guarantees. He is also getting endorsement money from companies. It makes me sick the way some of these athletes are today. Put your pads on and go earn your keep with the rest of the team. Go Eagles!
September 3, 2010 at 12:27 pm
organizations are just as ruthless with their players, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. He deserves to be the highest paid cornerback in football period as he is the best and proved it. If you can’t pony up for that, then get out of the way. These players livelihoods are their physical abilities and when you play a sport where each play could be career-ending, you have to be smart. Good job Revis and his agents for playing this correctly.
September 3, 2010 at 12:19 pm
true his salary is only 1 million for this season, but by sitting out, he automatically loses 20 million that would have been guaranteed at the end of his contract. If you sign a contract, you should honor it. what if he plays and he sucks this season? should the jets renegotiate and pay him less?????
September 3, 2010 at 11:56 am
The Texans now have a “no negotiation w/ holdouts” policy. That is working beautifully. Andre Johnson came to camp and got a huge contract. Demeco Ryans, the same. Owen Daniels also showed up and got paid. On the other hand the highly overrated Dunta Robinson decided to hold out after an injury and got shipped off. We are better for it. Revis is very good, but not the best DB in the league. Rex Ryan’s scheme does a lot to help DB’s.
September 3, 2010 at 11:42 am
It’s funny how when Brett Favre spent his entire career playing the same mind games that Revis is playing, and there was no recourse. You don’t hear the Vikings talking about fining this guy after he does what he’s ALWAYS done which is find an excuse not to come to training camp. So now Revis, who very well might be the best player on your team, asks for what he believes he deserves, now you want to play hardball. The Jets aren’t going to have a losing record because Revis held out.. They’re going to have a losing record because they stink.
September 3, 2010 at 11:14 am
Revis is under contract for the next 3 years and with next year looking like a lockout let him sit on his butt forever. no one is bigger than the team,
September 3, 2010 at 11:08 am
hahaha. YOu guys who are arguing about honoring your contract are idiots! When do NFL owners ever honor contracts. If you have a 3 yr cotract they can cut you or ask you to renegotiate the contract so that argument you guys are using is weak. J FROM JERSEY make the most sense. The rest of you guys probably don’t even have a college degree. Honor your contract. LOL.
September 3, 2010 at 10:59 am
contracts r 2 way streets. he has 3 years left on his contract. hey he’ll never make up lost revenue by sitting out 3 years. he’s acting like a child. if u don’t pay me i’ll hold my breath. i’d love to have him here, but you know what he needs to have a little more body of work before these types of demands. REVIS GROW UP DUDE YOUR BURNING BRIDGES. hopefully while your sitting out like a spoiled child you blow out your knee playing golf. good riddens!
September 3, 2010 at 10:38 am
I hope he not only never plays for the Jets again, but never plays in the NFL again. I would have very happy to hear that he had a career ending injury, in a non-football related incident. He’s a joke, and the Jets will be fine without him.
September 3, 2010 at 10:27 am
If Revis would have just went to camp like Mangold and worked hard for his money, then the Jets would have given him a new contract. Instead, he sat on the sidelines and was waiting for the team to just give him one. Unfortunately, the Jets will need him if they hope to make any strong push for a Super Bowl, but they should not give in unless Revis is fully committed to the team.
September 3, 2010 at 10:24 am
U gotta remember that it’s not him, but his AGENT that’s the cause for all this!
September 3, 2010 at 10:17 am
Sorry J From Jersey, one average season and another great season doesn’t “warrant” this type of behavior. It’s funny how Jets fans can make claims like this guy is the best non-QB in the league with such a minimal body of work. He plays an extremely difficult position and he knows that, so he’s trying to get paid while he’s still the most hyped D player in the league. DB’s can go from great to exposed in a heartbeat and Revis knows it.. he gets burned a few times this year and all of a sudden he can’t make these demands. It’s a good play for his future if the Jets give in, but it’s completely selfish and unwarranted at this point. I honestly don’t think any DB is worth that kind of money.
September 3, 2010 at 10:16 am
Darell, the owners don’t pay you. The fans pay you. Most of us have no more money for all of this. In the real world, people have to honor their contracts. You have a three year deal, you should honor it.
September 3, 2010 at 10:04 am
Holy smokes! That’s takes guts but hey his performance warrants it. He’s the best non QB in the league so Pay the Man! I’m in Pharma Sales and if we don’t perform we get fired plain and simple. However, if my numbers are solid I get a fat check at the end of the month. It’s about performance. People/Fans should always side with the players, never the ownership.
September 3, 2010 at 9:58 am
J, yea, but do you have a contract? If he got hurt last season, he’d still be getting paid. He shouda got a 1 year contract, BUT, then, no play-no money! A contract is a two way street.
September 3, 2010 at 10:02 am
I’m with you J, I’m not a Jets fan, but I have no problem acknowledging the guy is that good… And the fans should side the player especially when we’re talking about Revis! It’s not like he’s a regular corner he’s the best and the entire effectiveness of that defense depends on him! And NJ Chef, if he would’ve got hurt last year he would’ve been dropped, just like his buddy Leon Washington!! Johnson is a billionaire A**hole!!! If he really wanted to win he’d pay!!!
September 3, 2010 at 10:54 am
But if te jets pay him whats stopping guys like Nick Mangold from holding out aswell.
September 3, 2010 at 11:35 am
The Jets gave Mangold a new contract last week. Where you been bro?
September 3, 2010 at 11:48 am
What’s stopping (stopped actually) guys like Mangold is class, honor, and respect for your team mates. THAT’s what stopped Nick. He gained more respect by the team, management, AND the fans by being where he was supposed to be, WHEN he was supposed to be. Let Mevis walk. They’ll end up paying him what he wants, then his knees will be busted out from carrying all that ego anyway. It will also leave the Jets room to pay other guys who WANT to be here, and who also have the decency to show up regardless of contract disputes.
September 3, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Honor your contract. You will get your money in due time. Too many players today spell Team with I in it. Sorry that does not work.
September 3, 2010 at 9:54 am
hI JEFF, There is no “I” in team, but there is a “me”
September 3, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Shame on him. I hope the Jets do fine without him and he looks like an idiot, and is forced to sit out the remainder of his contract (2 years I believe). For some reason I can’t believe that teams will be throwing money at him if he hasn’t stepped on a field for over two years. its ridiculous the greed that players have today.
September 3, 2010 at 9:47 am
WHY SHAME ON HIM?? SHAME ON THE JOKE OF A FRANCHISE THE JETS…CHARGING AN ARM AND A LEG FOR PSL’S AND EVERYTHING ELSE …THE LEAST THEY COULD DO FOR THE FANS IS HAVE THE BEST TEAM POSSIBLE ON THE FIELD!! JETS ARE CURSED FOR LIFE
