Patriots-Jets Helps Draw Big Television Ratings

NEW YORK (AP) — Sunday’s national game on CBS, mainly Patriots-Jets, earned its highest preliminary rating for its first broadcast of the season since the network resumed televising the NFL in 1998.

New York’s 28-14 win helped draw a 16.7 overnight rating and 32 share. CBS said Monday that the rating was up 8 percent from last year.

Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time. Overnight rating measure the country’s largest markets.

National? Ha! Who are they kidding? Somebody needs to tell the idiots in the Orlando office of CBS that a Jets-Pats game is way better than a game between the Jaguars and Chargers, which we were forced to watch yesterday while everyone else saw the Jets. It is unfortunate that the Jags are the nearest AFC representative to Orlando, which causes CBS to preempt Jets-Dolphins games if they’re played at the same time. These contract rules are ridiculous. I really should get satellite.
