Amid Braylon Flap, Jets' Tannenbaum Joins WFAN

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- With Braylon Edwards' DWI arrest still generating controversy in New York, Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum joined WFAN's Boomer & Carton program Friday morning to address the issue.

The Jets have taken plenty of heat in the media for what has been called an "animal house" atmosphere. Tannenbaum takes exception.

"Fundamentally I think we have a really good program here with good people," Tannenbaum said. "Nobody's talking about that now, so that's a real disappointment."

As for the Jets' feelings toward Braylon Edwards?

"Right now, everyone has a reason to be mad at Braylon... What he did the other night was unacceptable."

The Jets announced this week that Edwards will suit up Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, but will not start the game. Some say the punishment is too light. Tannenbaum says the Jets are bound to the collective bargaining agreement.

"We made the decision for him to play based on the fact that there's a collectively bargained agreement in place," Tannenbaum said. "It's a pending legal matter, and we have to see how it plays out over time."

Craig Carton asked the Jets GM whether dressing Edwards but not playing him would be allowed under the CBA.

"Yes, you can play a guy as little or as much as you want," Tannenbaum answered. "But now you're playing with 44 players instead of 45."

How much will Edwards play on Sunday?

"We haven't determined how much he'll play... it's still something we are evaluating."
