Old Bridge Teens Plead Not Guilty In Fatal Beating

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Five teenagers charged in the beating death of a central New Jersey man who was attacked while out walking with his family have pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

The five -- all students at Old Bridge High School -- are charged in the June 25 attack on Divvendu Sinha of Old Bridge.

They were originally charged as juveniles, but the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office received court permission to try them as adults.

The five, ages 16 through 18, did not speak in court Friday. Their attorneys entered the pleas for them.

The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick reports that three have been released on bail; two remain at the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.

If convicted, they could face 30 years to life in state prison.
