Cops: Westchester Man Kills Self In Upstate Jail
POUGHKEEPISE, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say an inmate at a Hudson Valley jail apparently committed suicide by hanging himself inside in his cell.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that 27-year-old Justin McCue of Tarrytown in Westchester County was found handing from a light fixture last Thursday morning.
Officials say McCue wasn't breathing when jail staff found him. They began cardiopulmonary resuscitation until an emergency medical crew arrived and transported him to Vassar Brothers Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies say no foul play is suspected. They say the probable cause of death is suicide pending an autopsy.
McCue was being held at the Poughkeepsie jail on parole charges.
