Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Prospect Heights Bar

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Brooklyn man has been charged with murder after investigators said he fatally stabbed a man in Prospect Heights.

LISTEN: 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reports

Chaieun Hillman, 41, a martial arts instructor and bartender at the Branded Saloon, tied up his miniature pinscher dog around 2 a.m. Thursday to the fence outside the bar while a customer and his wife tied up their dog as well.

Soon thereafter, the dogs' leashes became entangled. Hillman and the wife of 36-year-old Daniel Pagan were untangling the leashes when Pagan got angry, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported. Authorities said Pagan believed Hillman touched or brushed up against his wife.

An enraged Pagan allegedly stabbed Hillman twice in the chest. Hillman was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A friend of Hillman, who tried to intervene was also stabbed, but was said to be in stable condition.

Pagan, who was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon, was released from prison 10 years ago after serving time for a manslaughter charge, D'Auria reported.
