LI Man Charged With DWI After Early Morning Crash

BOHEMIA, N.Y. (CBS 2) — Suffolk County police arrested a Long Island man after a two-car crash that left a Patchogue man critically injured at about 5:50 a.m. Sunday.

Robert Watson, 24, of Nesconset was charged with DWI after striking from behind a vehicle that was stopped at a red light. He fled the scene of the crash, but was apprehended a short time later.

Kevin Mead, 26, was a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle that Watson struck. He was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in critical condition, with head and chest trauma.

The driver of that vehicle, 57-year-old Allan Collins, and his daughter, 24-year-old Stephanie Collins, were also taken to Brookhaven, where they were treated for shock.

Watson was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Enough of the DWI maelstrom. Close all of the bars by midnite. If you want to drink yourself to oblivion, then do so at home.

So why don’t politicians enact laws that put vehicular homicide or attempted vehicular homicide on par with regular homicide? Because all politicians are lying drunks behind the wheel, that’s why.
