Victim Stable After Brutal Beating At Union Square
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- The NYPD investigation of a vicious beating at a popular restaurant and bar in Union Square continued Sunday.
The melee happened at the Coffee Shop and Bar on 16th Street early Saturday.
Detectives said a dispute between two groups of men inside the hot spot spilled out onto the street. A 28-year-old man was beaten in the back of the head.
His attackers ran off.
"He had his back to me, like this here, and I could see like blood in the back," said witness Alex Baffenroth.
"That's horrible, but I have to tell you it has nothing to do with this establishment. This is a place where locals come. There's a farmer's market right across the street," said Andrew Jacono.
The victim received stitches at Bellevue Hospital for a cut to his head. He was in stable condition.
No arrests have been made.
